Beekeeping

You have landed on our Bee Club page! Welcome and we hope you will consider joining our group.

Have you ever wondered, “where have all the bees gone”? Are you motivated to learn more about how you can contribute to saving the bees? Then the McIntosh Bee Club is perfect for you! UGA Extension hosts a monthly meeting for beekeepers and bee enthusiasts alike. We meet on the second Wednesday at 6:00PM at the American Legion. Each month, we discuss new topics in beekeeping and help each other prepare for the next month. This is also a space for sharing knowledge, tools, and equipment with other beekeepers.

Non-beekeepers can promote healthy bee populations by planting a diverse selection of pollinating plants in your lawns and gardens. This variation in plants will provide food for the various bee species in our area. Because of this, you do not have to maintain any hives to be a supporter and a member of our club. We will use this club to discuss other bee species and efforts we can make to help all bee populations.

McIntosh County residents have proven investment in maintaining healthy pollinator populations. You can use this club to learn more about supporting a robust bee population and you'll never have to wonder where all the bees are again.

The McIntosh Bee Club aims to educate and support beekeepers in the area. We are conducting a yearly survey to focus our education of beekeeping skills.

If you are a beekeeper, or if you want to learn more about bees, please take a few minutes to fill out our survey. Your feedback will help us to better understand the needs of our community. We will use these results to provide the best resources and support for beekeepers at all levels.

You can access the survey here. It should take you less than five minutes to fill out. If you have any questions, please reach out to MC Halbrook via cell: 912-580-0256 or email: mchalbrook@uga.edu
