Proud Partner of the Atlanta Science Festival
UGA Extension is a proud partner of the Atlanta Science Festival (ASF). The ASF was founded in 2014 on the principle of making science accessible, interactive and fun for people of all ages. This year, from March 14 through 25, the ASF will host 100 events in 65 locations throughout metro Atlanta. Clayton County Extension will present one of those event, Wiggly Worms: Kings of Compost on Saturday, March 18, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the outdoor classroom at the Reynolds Nature Preserve, located at 5665 Reynolds Drive in Morrow, GA. Worms create healthier soil which leads to a more productive vegetable or flower garden. Explore the science behind how these kings of compost break down kitchen scraps, and see how you can put them to work for you. Team with a Georgia Master Gardener to create your own vermicomposting bin, complete with red wigglers. Learn how to maintain the worm bin and gather worm castings for your garden. Vermicomposting works well, whether you live in an apartment, a townhouse, or on a farm.
