SAFE Shooting Sports

Bacon County BB Team 

Each fall students in 4th-9th grades are eligible to sign up for the BB team. Registration usually begins in September with practices beginning in late November or early December. Competition season runs from January through April with the final competition being the state shoot at Rock Eagle in May. Bacon County Modified Trap Shotgun Team 

Students in grades 6-12 can begin to sign up in November for the Shotgun Team. Space is limited so plan to sign up early. Practices will begin weekly after the first of the year.  There are only two major competitions for 4-H, district and state, though the team may schedule and attend other competitions in the area at the discretion of the coaches and 4-H staff. The district qualifier is held in April with the final competition being the state shoot at Rock Eagle in May. At left is the 2023 Shotgun team. All new shooters must have completed a Hunter's Safety Course recognized by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources. Our office must have a copy of your completion certificate on file.

Bacon County Archery Team

Students in grades 4-12 are eligible for competition on various levels of competition on the archery team. Students in 7-12th grades will have to complete an approved Hunter Safety Course prior to competition. Plans for 2024 include the addition of a Fall season to the Archery Team.  Anyone interested in shooting for the archery team should contact the Bacon County Extension office for details.
